The Angeles Chorale’s concert Come Together: The Soundtrack of Our Lives is an exciting and eclectic mix of music to please all musical tastes! This is the final concert of the chorale’s 43rd season Stories: Life Set to Song, and promises to close out the season on a high note with new works and re-imagined favorites for a night to remember. With incredible soloists, special guest Charles Constant and ArtistsPlus’ beautiful choreography, you won’t want to miss this unique concert on Saturday, June 9th at 7:30pm at First United Methodist Church of Pasadena. Come Together: The Soundtrack of Our Lives explores music ranging from choral classics from Brahms and Mozart’s Laudate Dominum and Lacrymosa, which Artistic Director John Sutton describes as “haunting and exquisitely beautiful,” to works from Irving Berlin (complete with a stunning Jazz trio!). Also included in the program are Beatles favorites like Blackbird and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Carmina Burana’s O Fortuna (like you’ve never heard it before), plus Led Zeppelin’s iconic Stairway to Heaven and U2’s I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For. “The versatility of this concert is truly unique. Not many choirs can do this,” says Sutton. In addition to the incredible choral music you’ll hear, the Angeles Chorale is excited to continue their season long partnership with ArtistsPlus Productions, featuring the incredible choreography and dancers led by the creative and passionate Diane De Franco Browne and Shauna Goddard. Charles Constant will narrate the evening, adding an intimate and immersive experience for the audience members. Also featured in Come Together: The Soundtrack of Our Lives is a top notch band, and guest soloist David Loucks, who some may recognize from his singing on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Come Together: The Soundtrack of Our Lives promises a great night of choral music like you’ve never heard it before. The Angeles Chorale’s final concert of season 43 is the final stop on this season’s musical journey. “There is something for everyone at this concert, and you won’t want to miss this special night of music,” says Executive Director, Jeffrey Shapiro. Their mission is to engage, enrich and inspire audiences, singers, and their diverse community by performing great choral music with a passionate commitment to excellence, and to increase access to and appreciation of choral music in greater Los Angeles. Recent Angeles Chorale performance highlights include A John Williams Celebration with the LA Phil at Disney Hall, and Barbra Streisand’s Back to Brooklyn concert at the Hollywood Bowl. In 2014 the chorale was featured with the LA Phil at the Hollywood Bowl in An Evening of Chinese Splendor and in 2015 the Angeles Chorale performed in Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy at the Microsoft Theater. In December 2015 the Angeles Chorale released An American Christmas, recorded live in concert and featuring works by Morten Lauridsen, Alfred Burt, and Randol Alan Bass. Next month, the Chorale will be the featured choir for Final Fantasy XIV at the Dolby Theatre. 2017-2018 Concert Season: Stories: Life Set to Song Every life is a story. This season, the Angeles Chorale takes us through the crystalized moments of life, the seasons and events of living, frozen in time. Our 43rd season expresses the diverse tapestry of the human experience through music and the human voice. About Artistic Director John Sutton The Chorale’s 2017-2018 concert season marks the eighth under Artistic Director Dr. John Sutton. John’s artistic vision for the Angeles Chorale rests on a foundation of choral excellence in performing music of diverse expressions and styles including major works for choir and orchestra, shorter works from the classical choral canon, works by contemporary choral composers, and folk, gospel, world and pop music. He is a Professor at Azusa Pacific University in the College of Music and the Arts, where he serves as the Director of Choral Activities. ### |
