VOICES FROM THE HEART: AN EVENING OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER
Saturday, April 4th, 2020, 7:30pm, First Baptist Church of Glendale
&
Sunday, April 5th, 2020, 5:00pm, Northridge United Methodist Church
VOICES FROM THE HEART: AN EVENING OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER, is a celebration of the famed British composer, and his ability to help us all feel the heartfelt emotions of life and love. His very personal setting of the Requiem was written following the death of his father, William Lloyd Webber in 1982. Holding these feelings in his mind and heart, he soon came upon an article in the New York Times depicting some of the terrible tragedies of war in Cambodia, and particularly one story involving a brother and sister. These emotions and experiences became the genesis and framework for the Requiem. Webber describes this work as “the most personal of all [his] compositions.” Don’t miss the opportunity to hear this complex and beautiful Grammy Award-winning piece. Of course, a celebration of Webber would not be complete without performing some of the most beloved musical theatre selections of our time! The Chorale will lend their voices to the iconic Broadway hits from Cats, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Phantom of the Opera, and more. Audiences are sure to be transported by the music of this night!

ICONIC VOICES
Saturday, June 13th, 2020, 7:30pm, First Baptist Church of Glendale
ICONIC VOICES: MOZART IN THE 21ST CENTURY will feature one of the most famous choral pieces ever written, Mozart's Requiem. This quintessential work continues to inspire audiences and bring them hope with it’s mixture of beauty, passion, pain, healing, turmoil, and ultimate peace and rest. This work will be paired with his Sparrow Mass, written 15 years earlier when Mozart was just twenty years old. Delightful in its playful beauty and imitation of sparrows, these two pieces will celebrate the iconic voice of Amadeus Wolfgang Mozart, and his continuing ability to delight, challenge, and speak to audiences in the 21st century. Both works (and more!) will showcase the masterful voices of the Chorale, under the artful conducting of Maestro, John Sutton. You will not want to miss this season ending concert as we celebrate 45 years of the Angeles Chorale lifting their VOICES, and 10 years of Maestro Sutton leading them in bringing great choral music to the minds and hearts of our audiences.

PAST CONCERTS:

VOICES FOR PEACE
Saturday, December 14th, 2019, 7:30pm, First United Methodist Church of Pasadena
The voices of the Angeles Chorale will become VOICES FOR PEACE as we present our first concert of the 45thAnniversary Season: VOICES! In a world, and at a time, where there are conflicts around the world and within our own nation, the Chorale will bring to life the hauntingly poignant sounds of Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem. Literally “grant us peace,” Dona Nobis Pacem was created using three poems of Walt Whitman, prophetic texts from the Bible, and a portion of text from a political speech brought in England’s House of Commons. Written in 1936, this iconic work is Williams' impassioned plea for peace as he warns against (what would become World War II) the world’s move towards healing conflict with violence and hostility. His words continue to ring true and continue to be needed. Performed in six thrilling movements, this work will fill you with hope, joy, and a wish for peace on earth. In addition, the program will feature a mix of your favorite holiday carols!
