Join one of the most exciting and dynamic choral groups in Los Angeles! We're passionate about making great music and always on the lookout for more fantastic singers. Membership represents a significant commitment of time, including weekly Tuesday night rehearsals held in Pasadena or at Westwood Hills Congregational. If you participated in your collegiate chorus or have studied music, you're probably a good candidate. Firmly grounded choral musicians are encouraged to audition.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
​​• Must be at least 18 years or older
• Good singing voice that will blend with the ensemble
• Ability to read music well

15 MINUTE AUDITION TO INCLUDE:
​•Choral resume (if applicable) 
• Sing a prepared song of your choice (see below) 
• Vocal Range Check
• Sight Reading
• Tonal Memory
• Brief interview
• Sing a chromatic and whole tone scale

SING A PREPARED SONG OF YOUR CHOICE WHICH INCLUDES:
​• Illustrates the beauty of tone you bring to the chorale
• Shows off both the lower and higher notes of your range
• You connect with emotionally
• Allows you to really perform and bring to life a musical moment, rather than just sing a song
• Choral resume (if applicable) 
• Is in a style that you are comfortable with

​ An accompanist will be provided.

MEMBERSHIP

Should you become a member of the Chorale, you will share in the satisfaction of producing unforgettable musical experiences for our audiences. As members, singers agree to :

• Membership Dues: $25 per month upon acceptance into the Chorale - for the 10 month season. 
• Required ticket sales for season concerts
• Procure the required concert attire plus concert music folder
• Participate in the funding and operation of the Chorale, including promoting the concerts, supporting fund-raising activities, and performing volunteer tasks.
• Attend weekly Tuesday evening rehearsals in Pasadena or Westwood Hills Congregational.
• Adhere to the absence policy of no more than three absences in any rehearsal period leading up to a concert.

AUDITION FAQ's

Q) What voice parts are you looking for?
A) All parts!

Q) What kind of vocal training do you require your singers to have?
A) None, though the majority of our singers have received formal training at some point in time. Many are former music majors or sing semi-professionally outside the Chorale. All singers in the chorale have excellent musicianship that includes sight-reading, pitch and rhythmic abilities. 

Q) Do I need to have experience singing in a ensemble?
A) Yes, you should have previous experience singing in large or small groups. 

Q) How much time will be expected of me?
A) You will rehearse once weekly with the group. Outside of rehearsal, you will be expected to practice regularly in order to retain your music. 

Q) Do you do anything fun?
A) We think singing is fun! However, we also hold social gatherings and events including monthly post-rehearsal happy hours, restaurant fundraiser dinners, concert after-parties and other gatherings that build a sense of community and camaraderie within the chorale. Attendance is not required but it is encouraged!
