In Loving Memory of Rae Macdonald
As we approach the end of 2016 and this season of reflection and thanksgiving, the Angeles Chorale family of singers, staff, board members, supporters, audience members, and many, many people from throughout the Los Angeles choral community, pause to pay tribute to the life and legacy of Rae Macdonald (1932-2016).
Rae Macdonald, longtime member of the L.A. choral scene, was a singer with the Roger Wagner Chorale throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s. Following her singing days, Rae brought leadership and assistance to the Los Angeles Master Chorale as their Concert Manager and worked alongside Paul Salamunovich and Grant Gershon from the 1980’s through the early 2000’s. Following her tenure with the LAMC, Rae came to the Angeles Chorale as Executive Director in 2003 and brought her incredible knowledge of choral music and enthusiasm for singing to our chorale. With Artistic Directors Donald Neuen and John Sutton, these past fourteen years have seen huge growth, outreach, and artistic accomplishments for the Angeles Chorale. Rae Macdonald was an enormous part of this significant professional development and achievement, and all of us in the Angeles Chorale family are grateful.
We will miss Rae especially as we come into this holiday season and think about the good things and blessings of our lives……….Rae was certainly one of them. We remember Rae being at every rehearsal as we prepared our concert repertoire. Our patrons remember phone calls of thanks that progressed into conversations about the love of music. Concert attendees remember Rae’s enthusiasm as she sold them tickets for our concerts. There wasn’t a person in the life and community of our chorale who wasn’t touched by Rae’s passion for music and singing.
A musical tribute will be given in honor of Rae and the tremendous contributions that she brought to the Angeles Chorale, Los Angeles and our choral community. Please join us for a musical celebration of Rae Macdonald at the First United Methodist Church of Pasadena on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 2 p.m. The Angeles Chorale family invites you to be a part of this special afternoon of performances from special guests and the Angeles Chorale as through music we pay tribute to this incredible woman and her musical life.
Rae’s family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Angeles Chorale in honor and memory of their musical mother.
