The year 2009 marks the 200th Anniversary of the death of Franz Joseph Haydn, known as the "father of the symphony" and one of the most prominent classical composers. The ANGELES CHORALE, conducted by Maestro Donald Neuen, will pay tribute to this beloved composer by performing one of his most profound masterworks.
Performed in 1798, the piece was an instant success — full of stirring choruses, rapturous arias, duets and trios illuminating the words of Genesis, the Psalms, and Milton's Paradise Lost.
In an anniversary year when Haydn will be celebrated and performed worldwide, including by members of the ANGELES CHORALE in New York's Carnegie Hall in June, don't miss the musical masterpiece that made a 38-year old Beethoven kneel and kiss Haydn's hands after its performance.
