Membership in Angeles Chorale is one of the most rewarding things you can do as a choral musician. At the same time, it represents a significant commitment of time, both for weekly rehearsals and home study.
Our auditions are open to anyone 18 years or older who has a good singing voice and reads music well. If you auditioned successfully for your college chorus or have studied music, you are probably a candidate. Singers are selected who have strong voices which will blend well with the ensemble and who are firmly-grounded musicians.
Maestro Neuen's six-minute audition consist of initial vocalizing to test your range, a short sight reading passage, and then a short solo of your choice. The solo can be your part from an anthem or chorus or a piece written for your voice. An accompanist will be provided.

Angeles Chorale musicians perform in a variety of world-class performance venues, including the recentlyrenovated UCLA Royce Hall and the Bel Air Presbyterian Church, both renowned for their acoustics. There are other opportunities to perform as well, such as our participation in the July 2000 performance of Mendelssohn's Elijah at Carnegie Hall, a presentation of Rachmaninoff's Vespers at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA., and the recent patriotic concerts with the LA Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl.
Membership in the Angeles Chorale is a first-class learning experience with a first class teacher, our director Prof. Donald Neuen. Not surprisingly, our membership includes many other local choral directors. Should you audition successfully for the Chorale, your spirits will be lifted with the energy of every rehearsal, and you will share in the satisfaction of producing unforgettable musical experiences for our audiences.
Members of the Chorale pay $20 dues per month for 10 months ($200 / year) and must procure the required concert dress: white tie and tails for men and a uniform long black dress for the women. They are also expected to participate in the funding and operation of the Chorale, by promoting the concerts, supporting fund-raising activities, and performing volunteer tasks.
