Baritone Timothy Noble sang
the title role of Elijah with the Angeles Chorale
in 1998 and the baritone solos in the Verdi Requiem in
2000.
His stellar career has spanned
thirty-eight years with opera houses and orchestra
at home and abroad. Last season he sang
the High Priest in Samson et Delila with
the San Francisco Opera. In the same season
he was heard as Tonio in I Pagliacci for
Utah Opera and Dulcamara in L'elisir
d'amore for The Netherlands Opera.
The current season includes performances
of Germont in La Traviata with
Indianapolis Opera and Count di Luna in Un
Ballo in Maschera with Canadian Opera.
Mr. Noble made his Metropolitan
Opera debut in 1988 as Shaklovity in Khovanshchina.
Some of his many roles at the Met have
been Michele in Il Tabarro, Albert
in Werther, Peter in Hansel
and Gretel, Amonsara in Aïda,
Leporello in Don Giovanni, Marcello
in La Boheme, Iago in Otello,
and the role of Christopher Columbus in
the world premiere of The Voyage by
Philip Glass.
Mr. Noble performs regularly
with the opera companies of San Francisco
and Dallas as well as the Santa Fe Opera,
where he recently appeared as Scarpia in Tosca and
Jack Rance in La Fanciulla del West.
Perhaps his signature role is that of Falstaff,
which he has performed in over 100 productions
around the world.
Mr. Noble stars as Professor
Howard Hill in the recent Telarc recording
of The Music Man and as Ben in
Marc Bitzstein's Regina on Decca
Records. He also recently released a recording
of the songs of Cole Porter.
He is Professor of Voice
at his alma mater, the Indiana University
School of Music.
