Tenor Jonathan Mack was
last heard as a soloist with the Angeles Chorale when
he delivered a superb Evangelist in the Passion according
to Saint John.
Since graduating from the
University of Southern California with
degrees in French horn and voice, Jonathan
Mack's career as a lyric tenor has taken
him throughout the United States, Europe,
and Australia as a recital, concert, and
opera singer.
For four years he lived
in Germany with his family where he was
the leading lyric
tenor for the opera houses of Kiel and
Dortmund. His guest engagements took
him throughout West Germany and France.
Now in his seventeenth season
with the Los Angeles Opera, he has performed over
forty roles, including Ferrando in Cosi
fan tutte, Kudrjas in Janacek's Katya
Kabanova, Quint in Britten's Turn
of the Screw and Orpheus in Offenbach's Orpheus
in the Underworld. This season Mr.
Mack appeared in Puccini's Fanciulla
del West.
His concert work has included
concerts with the London Symphony Angeles Philharmonic,
and the Minnesota Orchestra with conductors
including Giulini, Mehta, Previn, Boulez,
Rattle, Hogwood, and Tilson-Thomas.
Joanathan is in demand as
a studio singer and can be heard on numerous soundtracks,
including Jurassic Park, Amistad, Anastasia,
and Dinosaurs.
Mr. Mack is on the voice
faculties at the University of Southern
California, Chapman University, and California
State University at Long Beach. He is featured
soloist on six recordings, most recently
on a Crystal CD: John Biggs' Songs of Laughter,
Love, and Tears.
