Concert Preview at 7:00 by Alan Chapman

The Creation, by Franz Josef Haydn, is one of his most beloved and engaging
works. Inspired by "Paradise Lost", The Creation explodes with the creation
of light and climaxes with the creation of man, in "Adam and Eve". First
performed on April 29th 1798, the work was an instant success. Ten years
later, at his last public appearance, Haydn was amazed to have the
38-year-old Beethoven kneel to kiss the older composer¹s hands.

Modern audiences enjoy this sparkling work as "a statement of warm optimism
about the world and our place in it, clothed in some of the most gorgeous
music of music¹s golden age."

"He alone has the secret of making me smile, and touching me to the bottom
of my soul."
- MOZART
