Sharon
Mountford received her Zoology degrees from Rice University
and UCLA.
She engaged in electron microscopy research at UCLA on the ultrastructure
of
the retina, publishing several papers. After having children, she
became
involved in gifted education, teaching science classes, being President
of
the Gifted Children's Association of the San Fernando Valley and
serving as
Administrator for the California Association for the Gifted, from
which she
retired in 1993.
Since then she served for seven years as the Administrator of the
Angeles
Chorale, for which she was honored by the Los Angeles Times as
the Volunteer
of Distinction in 1998 in the arts for the San Fernando Valley.
Currently
she is Chairman of the Board of the San Fernando Valley Youth Chorus,
Chief
Financial Officer on the Board of the Angeles Chorale and member
of the
Church Council for the First United Methodist Church of Canoga
Park.
